The Health & Safety Professional reports directly to the ESH Manager.Provides project planning and oversight support of subcontractor activities (e.g., legacy piping, electrical, & structural removal, asbestos abatement, lead removal).Job Duties:
- Identify, interpret, and assist management in implementing health and safety requirements & best practices. Includes but is not limited to participating in initial project development activities as well as reviews of drawings, plans, and physical walk-downs of work locations. Evaluate effectiveness of functional requirements and their implementation at the specific work locations.
- Provide feedback to management and the ESH Manager to ensure implementation of requirements meets the expectations of pertinent regulations (e.g., OSHA), standards (e.g., ACGIH, ASME, NFPA) and contract obligations. In conducting these functions, the Health & Safety Professional is expected to apply and develop advanced concepts and techniques, work on complex problems, provide innovative solutions, act independently to uncover and resolve problems, contribute directly to achieving significant company objectives, and serve as an advisor to management.
- Involved in a broad range of health and health topical areas including demolition and decommissioning activities.
- Anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control safety and health hazards through industry standard methods and the application and development of advanced techniques.
- Monitor and evaluate line management’s implementation of health & safety requirements and programs. Conduct & document field observations of work in progress.
- Provide technical support to line management regarding implementation of health & safety requirements, company procedures, principles, theories, and concepts.
- Review and assist with the development of project/task level requirements and procedure documents to ensure health & safety requirements are identified and met.
- Provide support to the ESH Manager. Provide leadership and consultation to coworkers.
- Analyze data related to accidents and near misses. Assist management and employee safety team members in accident investigation and in determining root cause(s).
- Attend required general training, discipline-specific training, facility-specific training, professional development activities, and safety meetings related to position responsibilities.
- Provide health & safety training as required (e.g., hearing conservation, fall protection, hazard communication, etc.)
- Help cultivate and maintain healthy nuclear safety culture / Safety Conscious Work Environment within TSG organization.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or other applicable science or engineering degree.
- Prefer experience working in a nuclear environment.
- Experience as asbestos Supervisor, Building Inspector, Project Monitor, or Designer desired.
- Eligible to obtain ASP credential from Board of Certified Safety Professionals within one year. Current CSP and/or CIH certification preferred.
- U.S. citizenship (no dual citizenship) is required.
- Eligibility to obtain a DOE “Q” security clearance (equivalent to “Top Secret”) and ability to maintain that clearance. Active/current DOE “L” clearance or higher is preferred.
- Strong written/verbal communication, analytical/problem-solving, collaboration, negotiation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Pay: $77,000 – $116,000The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $77,000 and $116,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed ‘at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
