Job description: Job Title: HSE ProfessionalJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced HSE Professional to drive awareness, ownership, and accountability of the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) program at our site. The ideal candidate will maintain and enhance HSE programs, ensuring they are up-to-date and effectively implemented. This role involves risk analysis, conducting site inspections, providing education on safe work practices, assisting with incident investigations, and partnering with occupational health providers. Additionally, the HSE Professional will engage with stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental programs and maintain all required HSE records.Responsibilities

  • Drive awareness, ownership, and accountability of the HSE program at the site.
  • Maintain and enhance HSE programs, ensuring they are up-to-date and effectively implemented.
  • Utilize risk analysis processes to evaluate new and changing processes, assessing the effectiveness of existing safety requirements, and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of the site as required and participate in the site safety network.
  • Provide on-the-job education and coaching on safe work practices and optimized body mechanics to reduce injury risk and maintain physical resilience.
  • Assist with incident investigations and the development of corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Provide triage, first aid, and/or escalation of care when needed.
  • Partner with occupational health providers to implement treatment plans based on injury type.
  • Evaluate injury trends, provide analysis, and develop proactive action plans to mitigate risks and enhance workplace safety and employee health.
  • Maintain HSE recordkeeping systems required to document compliance with all legal requirements.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with air, water, waste, and other relevant environmental programs.
  • Work with Regional HSE, Corporate Environmental Affairs, and Global Engineering to evaluate and prepare air permit applications and exemption records.
  • Attend additional educational training as required.
  • Perform other HSE duties as directed by the Site Manager.
  • Work different shifts during the peak of our season as required.
  • Maintain all first aid credentials.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Medicine, or a related field.
  • Experience in environmental, health, and safety roles.
  • Knowledge and experience in hazard recognition, behavior-based safety, hazardous waste management, emergency response, ergonomics, and manual material handling.
  • Experience in dealing with large multifunctional locations including laboratory, field, greenhouse, and office environments.
  • Ability to drive awareness, ownership, and accountability for HSE programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with site management and HSE staff.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting information to influence or persuade others.
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work on multiple projects with a sense of urgency.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • OHST, ASP, or other HSE certifications.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour General Industry course.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) skills.
  • First aid/AED/CPR certified instructor.

Work EnvironmentThe work environment offers a friendly culture and environment. Plant work may require working different shifts during the peak season. The role involves working with various technologies and equipment in laboratory, field, greenhouse, and office settings. The dress code and attire should be appropriate for these environments.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 – $35.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
