This facility operates a regulation 18-hole golf course, clubhouse, driving range, putting green, chipping green, and short game area. This position reports to the Semper Fit Director and/or Semper Fit Deputy Director. The Golf Course Manager oversees the performance of the entire golf course team and ensures operating policies and procedures are being followed. This position is responsible for meeting financial objectives, ensuring the quality of the products and services being offered meet operating standards, and secures and protects the Golf Course assets, including facilities and equipment.Golf Program responsibilities
- Create high-profile lesson programs capable of attracting and retaining all levels of players to the course.
- Schedule and conduct tournaments and special events.
- Plan, organize work, and manage resources to ensure maximum productivity and profitability of the pro shop, golf revenue departments, and golf course maintenance.
- Ensure the golf course complies with environmental regulations and requirements.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create and execute a marketing strategy that drives sales, entices new players, and retains existing patrons.
- Work closely with the Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent to ensure effective long-term planning and day-to-day maintenance of the golf course is meeting objectives.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Oversee the care and maintenance of the golf course physical assets and facilities.
Leadership responsibilities
- Responsible for the selection and retention of talented staff.
- Coach, mentor, lead, and develop staff to achieve operational goals of the program.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with leadership, business partners, employees, and guest/patrons.
- Ensure employees are friendly, helpful, and courteous to patrons, managers, and co-workers.
- Evaluate employees¿ performance on a regular basis and take corrective action when necessary.
- Conduct staff meetings (weekly, monthly, or quarterly) as directed by Semper Fit Director or Deputy Director.
- Effectively handle problems or issues that arise in the workplace, including anticipating, identifying, preventing, and solving problems as necessary.
Financial responsibilities
- Review sales, budget, or other financial statements on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and take corrective action to achieve financial targets.
- Create and execute short term and long term operational and financial plans for the golf course.
- Direct, coordinate, and monitor the facility¿s annual business plan and operating/capital budgets.
- Analyze financial statements, manage cash flow, and establish controls to safeguard funds.
- Ensure proper controls are in place and being followed to accurately track revenue, payroll, inventory, and expenses.
- Review golf course financial expenditures and transactions to ensure they are operating within the established guidelines and procedures.
- Establishes and monitors compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
Worksite responsibilities
- 8-hour shifts which include early mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends. Hours, days, and times vary based on business needs.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.
This is a supervisory position and is responsible for assigning, distributing and evaluating work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, training, and mentoring employees. Approve or disapprove leave requests, recommend and complete personnel actions, performance reviews, and administer discipline as required by policies and procedures. Responsible for keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Must be alert to alcohol/drug abuse to take appropriate action. EVALUATIONS:Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in business administration or related field required. Bachelors’ degree in business administration or recreation, park, tourism management preferred.
- Must possess four years¿ professional experience that demonstrates a strong knowledge of golf course maintenance and operations that includes management of a retail Pro Shop

An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered. * Minimum of 1 year experience supervising personnel.
- Active “Class A” member of the Professional Golfers Association of America preferred but not required.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, manage, and coordinate the work of subordinate staff while consistently demonstrating a professional, positive, and approachable demeanor.
- Must have strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
- Skill in analyzing problems which include identifying relevant factors, gathering pertinent information, and recognizing solutions.
- Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills needed to work productively with individuals internal and external to the organization.
- Knowledge of pertinent safety, occupational health and environmental regulations to include matters relating to chemicals, spray, and other agents.
