Job description: Front of House Assistant Manager (MR) – StellenboschWe are searching for a young, enthusiastic and organised Front of House Assistant Manager to join the Hospitality Team of a beautiful Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. The purpose of this position is to execute the delivery of the hospitality experience, to meet and exceed customer expectations in the Restaurant & Tasting Room, to execute Functions, and to assist the Hospitality and Front of House Managers to manage and control the pool of hospitality staff. Please note that from time to time, Ad-hoc duties may be expected from you by management, due to operational requirements.Candidates must be living in the Stellenbosch area & close surrounds with their own reliable transport, a stable work history and at least 2 years in a similar position at a similar upmarket establishment. Wine knowledge and completed Wine courses will be advantageous.Salary on offer is R apply below pm (CTC) including provident fund contribution plus annual performance bonus, plus commission on wine sales. Additionally, the company pays R2500 on top of the basic salary over season.Duties/responsibilitiesAssisting FOH manager to fully operate the RestaurantHospitality:Assisting in managing the floor and maintaining high service level of staffHost tours, lunches and tastings, especially for VIP groupsGeneral waitron duties and tasksHosting Cellar and Trophy Room ToursAssist Hospitality Manager in arranging functions – tasting room, meetings, staff functions, marketing functionsLiaise with kitchen regarding operations in restaurant and tasting room (e.g., if tables are full etc.)Take part in the leadership team by providing a high level of service and training Restaurant of Restaurant & Tasting Room Assistants to do the sameAdministration:Conducting opening and closing duties of restaurant & tasting romAssisting in stock take, control and reconciliation of the restaurant and tasting room stockAssisting Front of House Manager in daily cash-ups and responsible for cash-up when Front of House Manager is not presentData CapturingReport maintenance issues to Front of House ManagerEnsure that the cleaners are operating effectivelySales & Marketing:Check that all details on shipping forms are filled in correctlyDrive sales targets and motivate restaurant and tasting room staff to do samePromote the Wine Club to visitorsProvide relevant information to be published on social network sites e.g., famous people visiting the Tasting RoomRequired Skills / AbilitiesService orientation:Independently anticipates and meets client’s needsTakes the initiative to solve client’s problemsCoaches others on achieving outstanding client service People management:Supports, encourages & develops team membersHolds team members accountable for goal achievement Accuracy, Quality:Output is accurate and error freeEnsures that deadlines are met Networking:Builds rapport and puts people at easeIs engaging and enthusiasticIs comfortable having to persuade others Education and ExperienceFront of House and/or Wine Service Courses an advantage (Cape Wine Academy)Previous experience in a similar establishmentOther dutiesJob description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee, Duties responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without noticeApplicants are requested to submit a complete, up to date CV showing:1.
