POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position on first shift. Schedule is Monday-Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm. This position is onsite with a possibility of limited telework.In this position you will have the opportunity to develop, manage and occasionally teach fire service training programs for the CT Fire Service. This position will have direct oversight of the CT Fire Academies Technical Rescue programs and Candidate Physical Ability Testing center (CPAT).ABOUT US
The Connecticut Fire Academy is a State of the Art Training Facility, operated under the guidance and administration of the . The Training Division is responsible for the development and delivery of Fire & Rescue, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Medical, NIMS and other Emergency Services related training programs.   • Plans, develops, coordinates and evaluates comprehensive training programs for Connecticut Fire Academy;
  • Conducts needs assessments;
  • Develops course objectives, curricula, outlines and contents;
  • Selects and develops training methods and materials;
  • Researches learning materials and resources ensuring training, operability of equipment and general maintenance as needed;
  • Monitors and evaluates training courses and participant progress;
  • Provides technical assistance and consultation;
  • Maintains records and prepares reports;
  • Organizes and maintains a library of training materials;
  • Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – GENERAL EXPERIENCESix (6) years of technical experience in fire suppression and emergency services.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – SPECIAL EXPERIENCEThree (3) years of the General Experience must have been providing fire suppression and emergency services training.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWEDCollege training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required education and/or experience necessary to meet various fire service certifications.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • National certification by the National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications (NPQS) or the International Fire Services Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or State Certification by the Connecticut Fire Academy that meet the provisions of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Firefighter 2.
  • Incumbents in this class must be qualified at the level of Fire Service Instructor III.
  • Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license with a valid Q or CDL endorsement.
  • Incumbents in this class will be required to travel.
  • Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain specific education and/or experience to meet various certifications.
