Job description: Position DescriptionPay Grade: Coordinator 10The Fire Academy Coordinator facilitates and oversees all aspects of WTCC Fire Academies and partnership Fire Academies under the supervision of the WTCC OSFM School Director.Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described.*Plans, coordinates, and evaluates NC Fire & Rescue Commission (NCFRC) Firefighter I & II certification programs.*Initiates and maintains the WTCC Fire Academy General Orders.*Provides for an inclusive and collaborative learning environment.*Ensures necessary equipment and resources (textbooks, online accesses, firefighting equipment, fire apparatus props etc.) are readily available for immediate use to all instructors & students.*Schedules fire academies, recruits’ instructors, evaluates instructors, and administers NCFRC compliant testing procedures using qualified proctors.Ensures delivery data is properly entered/updated in the NC OSFM Portal.Produces course documents that supports the college’s mission and reports students’ achievement.Plans, schedules, and coordinates graduation ceremonies.Oversees all aspects of instruction as Fire Academy School Director.QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAble to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learningInnovative, creative, motivated and work well with othersDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationship with students, peers, supervisors and staffAble to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistentlyWorking knowledge of Learning Management SystemsAble to perform normal duties with minimum supervisionExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potentialMinimum RequirementsRequirements:NCFRC Level II InstructorQualified as NCFRC Firefighter I & II Instructor+7 yrs. work experience as a full-time firefighter5 yrs. experience teaching FF certification courses for a community collegePreferences:+7 yrs. documented time delivering FF I & II Certification Instruction3 to 5 yrs. serving in the capacity of a Fire Academy Coordinator or as a Fire Academy Lead InstructorEssential Personnel:TBDAs an equal employment opportunity employer, Wake Tech values our workforce.
