The UW Medicine – Financial Access Clearance Team (FACT), located within the Patient Financial Access Services department, has an outstanding opportunity to hire a FINANCIAL ACCESS MANAGER (MANAGER OF PROGRAM OPERATIONS).
WORK SCHEDULE
- 40 hours per week, Day Shifts
- Mondays – Fridays, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Primarily a hybrid remote position, with the possible need to travel to the UW Medicine Sand Point location based on operational need and as assigned by the Patient Financial Access Services Department Director
- Job responsibilities may require occasional travel to other UW Medicine hospital and non-hospital onsite campus locations
- May require off-hours work including evenings and weekends and travel to multiple locations in UW Medicine for meetings and/or training
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
- Under the direction of the Patient Financial Access Services Department Director of Financial Access, the Financial Access Manager ensures the prompt and accurate review of eligibility and benefits, obtaining pre-authorizations, pre-registration of patients, creation of cost estimates and collecting patient financial responsibilities
- Implement process improvements and plan, organize, develop and manage the overall operations of the Pre-Service Teams
- Be a part of a team dedicated to supporting UW Medicine where Patients Are First
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
- The UW Medicine Financial Access Clearance Team (FACT) coordinates the insurance clearance process for Inpatient planned and unplanned admits
- Our team values excellent customer service, timely response, accurate authorization, and courteous processing of calls
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversight of members of the Financial Access Clearance Team, management of the operation of supervisors, leads and pre-service staff
- Coordinate Human Resource activity for staff including in-services and new employee orientation
- Responsible for payroll tasks such as Kronos-related activities; maintain vacation and sick time calendars; act upon direct report leave requests in accordance with the union contract/agreements, and departmental policies and procedures
- Interview, hire, terminate, and institute performance improvement plans for staff
- Maintain and update job descriptions based on job specifications
- Conduct annual performance appraisals and recommend corrective action as necessary
- Coordinate and administer personnel policies and procedures in conjunction with selection, orientation, training, assignment and staffing, evaluation, discipline and discharge of staff members in compliance with state and federal labor laws. Ensure all department policies, procedures and practices comply with UW Medicine policies and procedures
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Science, Accounting, or other health related program
- 4 years of management, leadership, supervisory and program management skills demonstrated by continuing professional growth in healthcare patient access, registration, financial counseling and clearance
- Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration
