Falcon Care and Welfare:
- Provide daily care for falcons, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring their health.
- Ensure that falcon enclosures or facilities are clean, safe, and appropriately maintained.
- Administer medication or treatments as directed by a veterinarian, if necessary.
- Monitor and assess falcon behavior and overall well-being, identifying any signs of stress, illness, or injury.
Falcon Training and Enrichment:
- Design and implement training programs tailored to individual falcons’ needs and abilities.
- Use positive reinforcement techniques to teach falcons desired behaviors, such as recall, perching, and hunting.
- Provide enrichment activities to stimulate falcons mentally and physically, preventing boredom and promoting natural behaviors.
Educational Programs:
- Develop and deliver educational presentations about falcons, falconry, and related topics for diverse audiences, including schools, community groups, and visitors.
- Engage with the public to raise awareness about falcon conservation, ecology, and the importance of birds of prey in ecosystems.
Research and Data Collection:
- Participate in research projects focused on falcon behavior, physiology, or conservation.
- Collect and record data on falcon training progress, behavior patterns, and environmental interactions.
- Assist with the analysis and interpretation of research findings, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with colleagues, including veterinarians, biologists, and other falcon trainers, to ensure comprehensive care and management of falcons.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and stakeholders, providing updates on falcon training, health, and program activities.
- Maintain accurate records of falcon care, training sessions, and program outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, zoology, wildlife management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with birds of prey, particularly falcons, in a professional or volunteer capacity.
- Knowledge of falconry techniques, training methods, and falcon behavior.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to recognize and interpret subtle cues in falcon behavior.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Dedication to animal welfare and conservation principles.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and work requirements.
- Certification or licensure in falconry may be required depending on jurisdiction.
- CPR and first aid certification may be beneficial.
Expected salary: 25000 per month
