The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced Project Manager with at least seven years of professional experience, preferably in educational or public works projects. They should have a strong background in business analysis, project management, and overseeing large-scale IT projects, from initiation through implementation. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have a proven ability to manage diverse teams, including Business Systems Analysts, vendors, and stakeholders. A successful candidate will also possess strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively influence teams and ensure the timely delivery of projects within budget and scope. A degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field is required, with PMP certification and AEC industry experience being preferred.Responsibilities
- Directs and manages projects from cradle to grave including project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closing
- Defines project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
- Develops project plans and associated communication documents including Project Charters
- Manages and oversees the work of Business Systems Analysts
- Effectively communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
- Manages client relationships to ensure the appropriate level of participation
- Manages vendor relationships and resources to ensure effective execution of the project
- Develops and manages project budgets
- Identifies and manages project risks as well as issues that arise and the action items required to resolve them
- Plans and schedules project timelines and milestones using MS Project and track project milestones and deliverables
- Develops and delivers project status reports
- Coaches, mentors, motivates, and supervises project team members (employees, contractors, and vendors) and influences them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
- Conducts project post mortems and creates recommendations in order to improve execution of future projects
Required Experience:
- Seven (7) years full-time paid professional industry experience preferably in an educational facility or public works projects
- Four (4) years of experience in business analysis and understanding business processes
- Three (3) years of Project Management experience in the role of Project Manager
- Experience having managed at least 1 project from inception through implementation
- Experience working closely with project stakeholders including clients, users and management to coordinate work efforts across multiple groups to ensure that project goals are met within the established timeframes
- Experience defining technology solutions to business problems with input from business subject matter experts leading to the creation of Project Charters to support initiation of Projects
- Develop work estimates, work breakdown structures and the project work plan; prepare a
consolidated work plan for initiatives that involve multiple related projects * Strong conflict resolution, negotiating and influencing skills
- Experience with standard set of practices that ensure the integrity and quality of project
deliverables * Experience in preparing and implementing test plans
- Managing successful, large-scale IT projects, that include software analysis, design,
development testing and implementation * Working with User Acceptance Testing methodologies and documentation in large complex and heterogeneous technical environments
- Using project planning tools such as MS Project to track and maintain project plans, work
breakdown structures and timelines * Creating and presenting internal and external status reports and detailed status reports suitable for presentation Project Steering Committee and senior management
- Leading the project technical and operational team, facilitating the project meetings and
maintaining the project objectives through effective project management skills * Delivering the project deliverables within the agreed schedule, to the correct technicalspecification, i.e., defined to meet user requirements, and within the approved budget and other specified criteriaRequired Education:
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelors degree
- Completion of a bachelors or master’s degree in engineering, computer science, information
technology or systems engineering is preferredKnowledge/Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Productivity/Office Tools, e.g. MS-Visio, MS-Project, MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- AEC industry experience strongly preferred; LAUSD experience preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

- Reporting Tools, e.g. BIRT, Tableau, Crystal Reports, Actuate, or others
