Villa Academy seeks a full-time Extended Day Assistant & Extended Day Teacher (Middle School) to join its team. During the academic year this hybrid role consists of administrative tasks during the first part of the day (10 AM – 2 PM) as well as working directly with students aged ten to fourteen after school, in partnership with the Extended Day team (2 – 6 PM.) During the summer, this position will be 8 AM – 4 PM. Throughout the year there will be additional hours required when school is closed, and full-day care is offered. This is a twelve-month, non-exempt position that follows the academic calendar, reporting to the Extended Day Coordinator.The ideal candidate is an organized, detail-oriented professional who thrives in both administrative and educational settings. They are passionate about fostering engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences for middle school students and bring excellent communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, families, and students. Their experience blends administrative expertise with a strong understanding of childhood education and a commitment to creating inclusive and supportive environments.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate play-based, child-centered after-school learning experiences for children aged ten to fourteen.
- Plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities for middle school students.
- Support students with homework as needed.
- Manage attendance records for the Extended Day program, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
- Process registration and enrollment for Extended Day, enrichment classes, and Villa Academy’s summer program (Villa Ventures), maintaining up-to-date rosters and waitlists.
- Communicate with families regarding program updates, billing, and student schedules.
- Prepare and organize materials or supplies needed for daily activities and special events.
- Coordinate staff schedules, substitute coverage, and room assignments as needed.
- Support compliance with licensing requirements, including maintaining proper documentation and certifications.
- Track program supply inventory, place orders as needed, and oversee the organization of two storage rooms.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
- Follow all health and safety protocols to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with students while facilitating healthy conversations.
- Effectively partner and communicate with families, colleagues, and administration to appropriately challenge and support students.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve instructional strategies.
- Integrate technology and hands-on activities to enhance learning experiences.
- Regularly assess, evaluate, and provide feedback on student performance.
- Participate in faculty/staff and team meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- An Associate or a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience providing administrative support in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
- 2+ years of experience working with children aged ten to fourteen in a childcare, educational, or recreational setting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
- Proficiency in office technology and software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and database management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with middle school-aged students, understanding their developmental needs and interests.
- Desire to utilize outdoor spaces to introduce children to nature and facilitate connections between them and their environment.
- Readiness to obtain a Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families Merit certification, required of all employees in licensed facilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, kneel and sit on the floor, and be active with children.
- Capacity to perform all housekeeping tasks and any other duties as part of the role’s responsibilities.
- Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, faculty/staff, and campus partners.
- Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a Preschool through Eighth Grade, faith-based independent school.
- A commitment to ongoing professional growth, curiosity, cultural humility, and antiracism, as well as an understanding of its critical role in academic excellence and student growth.
SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:
