Duties
Assists in the efficient operation of the Firearms / Tactical Gear department within the retail exchange operation. Completes and processes firearm transfers and retail sales of ammunition, firearm accessories, and other retail merchandise. Prepares store records and files such as daily preparation of accounting records; operational and inventory reports or other reports as required by federal, state, and MCCS / DOD policy. Makes appropriate entries in ATF bound book, logging in required items during receipt / disposition of weapons. Performs daily sight count of on-site weapons and ammunition. Compares totals to bound book count and prepares all documentation to include transfers, invoices, ATF reports, security logs, and transaction logs for manager review and approval. Complies with all state and Federal laws and local policies and procedures pertaining to firearms sales. Ensures secure operation of the firearms department.
Processes firearm and ammunition related sales transactions, conducts customer background checks, handles funds, and completes sales reports as required by law and local policy. Receives firearms and ammunition into the inventory management system, processes outgoing transfers, returns to vendor, and customer repair/warranty work related firearms. Manages back stock and stocks sales floor displays within department. Takes customer special orders and transfer requests. Draws up work sheets using required information obtained from vendor or other sources. Compute correct markup for pricing of products.
Maintains security of merchandise, funds, equipment and property, and must be alert to theft as well as initiating appropriate action to minimize shortages. Opens and closes department in accordance with established procedures.
Completes and complies with firearms regulation, procedural, safety, and sales knowledge training. Maintains personal currency in training, medical, and security clearance certification. Keeps abreast of, and actively supports, the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be capable of lifting up to 45 pounds independently and repetitively and lifting objects over 45 pounds with assistance.

Qualifications
Must have one-year experience working in a Retail Store with a minimum of one year experience in weapons and ammunition handling procedures along with a Demonstrated knowledge of selling techniques. Ability to train operating standards and procedures for sales, signing, merchandising and store brand and work within the position to execute these standards properly and coach others within the team to do so with a high degree of skill and confidence. Ability to work in a high performance atmosphere with commitment to service and sales goals. Replenishment and merchandise management knowledge preferred. Attention to detail is required.
This is a ¿covered position¿ for the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act for Department of the Navy civilian personnel. Due to contact with firearms, or ammunition in accomplishing work, applicant must possess the ability to successfully complete and obtain/maintain a favorable background investigation at the ANACI level and complete a NAVMC 11386; personnel screening for handling arms, ammunition, and explosives, a medical background screening, and a DD Form 2760 certifying whether or not a ¿qualifying conviction¿ for a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence has occurred MUST be completed. The continuing obligation to notify the immediate supervisor of any qualifying conviction through completion of DD Form 2760 and other aforementioned certifications is REQUIRED.
Must be 21 years of age.
