An exciting opportunity exists for an Executive Director of Aboriginal Health and Workforce to join the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District

What you’ll be doing

Play a key role in driving a culture that recognises and embraces the concept that Aboriginal Health is everybody’s business

As the Executive Director Aboriginal Health & Workforce, you will provide strategic leadership, expert direction and guidance to the Chief Executive and Executive leadership team in relation to ISLHD strategic priorities for Aboriginal Health and workforce initiatives. You will lead the transformation of ISLHD services to improve the lives of Aboriginal people by building strong internal and external partnerships, designing improved culturally safe services for communities across our region and enhancing employment and career opportunities for Aboriginal people.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Selection Criteria: * Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a leadership role in a complex public sector environment, or a combination of study and work experience.

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in leading the development, review, and evaluation of organisational wide strategic plans and policies for improving health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
  • Extensive senior leadership/ management experience including a demonstrated track record in effectively managing change and developing team capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences and build relationships for collaboration and cooperation across the organisation, with partners and the community.
  • Demonstrated capacity to encourage and include diverse perspectives in the development of priorities, policies and strategies; and demonstrated ability to lead the workforce in adoption and maintenance of culturally safe and respectful services and workplaces.
