Job Type: Full-TimeJob OverviewAs a Secondary English Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering curriculum-aligned lessons that inspire a love for literature and language in students. Your teaching will support learners with diverse needs and encourage critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication.Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons in line with curriculum standards
- Assess, record, and report on student progress, using data to inform instruction
- Plan learning objectives that accommodate ESL students, low achievers, and gifted learners
- Use technology and media resources to support interactive learning experiences
- Participate in the preparation and evaluation of instructional materials and schemes of work
- Provide academic and pastoral support to students to promote overall well-being and development
- Encourage student participation in creative writing, debates, and public speaking programs
- Maintain effective classroom management and discipline strategies
- Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular planning and shared learning resources
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events to maintain strong parent engagement
- Uphold GEMS policies, procedures, and professional standards in all aspects of work
- Contribute to extracurricular activities and school-wide initiatives
- Attend staff development programs and performance review meetings
Job RequirementsEducation:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Literature, or a related field
- BEd or PGCE/PGDE in Secondary Education with English specialization preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of English teaching experience at the secondary level
- Familiarity with international curricula (British, IB, or equivalent) is a plus
Skills:
- Strong command of English language, both written and spoken
- Expertise in teaching grammar, writing, literature analysis, and communication skills
- Classroom management and student engagement techniques
