About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for an Automation Engineer to support and improve automation and control systems across site.This role is a great opportunity to develop your skills and experience whilst fostering a collaborative team culture on site.Reporting to the Automation Lead and working in a challenging and exciting environment you will be:

  • Developing and improving automation, including interfaces between the control and SCADA/HMI layers, and information systems such as databases, historians, analysis tools and manufacturing execution systems.
  • Supporting and developing the site SCADA fleet and equipment HMIs.
  • Conducting and managing business sustaining work such as obsolete control system hardware replacement or software conversion and upgrades
  • Providing technical advice and assistance to site maintenance, engineering, project and operational teams
  • Maintenance and installation of Rockwell Automation and Honeywell applications in the OT field.
  • Maintenance of windows server applications such as serving patching in the OT environment
  • Providing second level breakdown support, including after-hours call out as required to support maintenance and operations teams.
  • Improving existing process and equipment control systems to increase efficiency.
  • Assisting with FAT and SAT of control systems and instrumentation
  • Mentoring of Graduate Engineers
  • Completing in field work such as troubleshooting faults, calibration of equipment, programming of devices

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Bachelor’s degree/ Advanced Diploma in electrical, mechatronic or Automation Engineering or Trade qualified Electrician with relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in a similar role in a heavy industry environment
  • Experience in PLC and SCADA programming. Rockwell Automation and Honeywell experience desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in being able to complete work in the field.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Demonstrated application development experience using VBA, Python, SQL and SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services and Power BI is desirable.
  • Networking and industrial protocol experience and fault-finding skills.
  • Understanding of Functional Safety
  • Class C Drivers Licence
