This role is ideal for someone with a full time teaching position who is looking for some extra work, a current graduate student in education, or a recently retired teacher who isn’t quite ready to leave it all behind!Responsibilities include
Create a warm, caring, and safe environment Students are at the heart of what we do. When they know that they are cared for, students come ready to learn. This includes building nurturing relationships with students and providing age-appropriate levels of student supervision, classroom rules, and routines.Create and implement lesson plans You will teach 2nd grade general studies content areas, including ELA, History, Math, and Science, to all boys classes. Our curriculum is aligned with Massachusetts state standards. Your creativity will shine in the activities you plan to engage student interest in the content.Monitor and communicate student progress Provide feedback to students and their families on academic, social, and behavioral progress. Maintain appropriate records. Create two-way communication channels with families so they are updated on their child’s progress.Other responsibilities As assigned by the Head of School.What we’re looking for in you

Location: Torah Academy is located in Brookline/Brighton, Massachusetts.
Hours: Mondays-Thursdays 1:00-4:00 p.m.; Fridays 12:00-2:30 p.m.
Salary: $25,000-$32,000 per year, commensurate with experience

In the afternoons students engage in general studies according to their grade level. Because of the intense nature of the morning curriculum our students are pretty sophisticated in their thinking. We are seeking general studies teachers to match that level of rigor in their content areas. Our general studies curriculum is modeled after the public school frameworks, so familiarity with grade level secular academic expectations is a big plus.
