The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

Perfect opportunity for a technically brilliant financial reporting specialist to join the NDIA’s Scheme Reporting Team and play a pivotal role in advancing objectives of the Agency.

As part of the Agency Budget and Finance Controls Branch, the Scheme Reporting Team is responsible for embedding financial best practice and governance within the financial management of the Scheme.

The Agency Budget and Finance Controls Branch is responsible for the financial management of the Agency and Scheme and provides insightful financial reporting to enable strategic decision making. The branch manages the maintenance and development of finance systems, analysing financial performance, and providing financial advice to support decision making and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements. They provide financial reports and advice to support the business manage its group, division and branch level budgets.

These roles are being offered as Professional Stream (mandatory qualifications apply as below) or General Stream – as part of the application process you will be asked to select the category you wish to apply under.

Where you can add value As EL1 Finance, you will prepare and provide reports and forecasts on Scheme finances to the Chief Financial Officer, Executive Leadership Team and Agency Board.

Additional duties of the role include, but are not limited to:-

  • continued expansion of the Branch’s Scheme financial and trend analysis;
  • monitoring and reporting on the impacts of policy and legislative changes on scheme sustainability and related frameworks;
  • Delivering various month end financial reporting and analysis.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

Our ideal candidate will ideally have a strong background in a federal government financial environment, developing reports & dashboards for presenting to Senior Management. They should possess highly developed stakeholder engagement and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential, as they will be working closely with senior leaders and other stakeholders. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability to engage in complex problem solving and issues management. They should have prior experience leading teams, as well as strong time management skills. Experience in working with SAS Enterprise Guide (including coding with SAS and SQL) will be highly regarded, as well as prior knowledge of SAP financial systems.

Mandatory Qualifications (Professional Stream only)
As these are professional roles, the successful applicants must possess and maintain relevant academic qualifications with membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) or other equivalent professional finance bodies (or holding equivalent finance related post graduate qualifications).

While this role is ideally performed from VIC – Richmond or VIC – Geelong, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months may be offered.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
