The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.A new role awaitsThe NDIA’s Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) Case Management Branch is seeking an EL1 Assistant Director Case Management to lead a team of Case Managers responsible for the management and resolution of AAT applications.The AAT Case Management Branch manages all external review applications in the AAT. The branch aims to improve the experience of current and prospective participants in the NDIS by resolving disputes in a timely and consistent manner.Where you can add value As EL1 Case Management, your primary responsibility will be to lead, mentor and train a team of Case Managers to identify the best course of action for AAT proceedings by analysing complex information and applying legislative criteria and NDIA policies. Your aim is to lead your team in resolving issues swiftly and ideally, without the necessity of an AAT hearing.Additional responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Applying alternate dispute resolution methods and advocacy skills to resolving applications/reviews, in keeping with the model litigant principles.
  • Attending Case Conferences, Conciliations, Hearings conducted by the AAT
  • Preparing documents detailing resolution options and outcomes at Case Management meetings,
  • Assessing and responding to priority and risks, including risk to the participant, Scheme sustainability and the NDIA.

While this role is ideally performed from QLD – Brisbane, remote working arrangements may be considered.
