Job description: Job Title: EHS CoordinatorJob DescriptionThe Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator will play a key role in advancing a safety-first culture by supporting and enhancing environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives. This position ensures compliance with all applicable EHS regulations while promoting continuous improvement in workplace safety. The EHS Coordinator must be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and proactively collaborate with cross-functional departments, including plant operations, engineering, maintenance, sanitation, and quality assurance to drive safety excellence across all operational areas.Responsibilities

  • Foster a safety-first culture by actively engaging with site leadership and operational teams to promote continuous improvement and innovation in workplace safety.
  • Collect and analyze key performance indicator (KPI) metrics to support the development and execution of effective EHS strategies and process improvements.
  • Conduct regular audits across all plant functions to ensure strict adherence to applicable EHS regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with critical Health & Safety programs, including Chemical Process Safety Management, Risk Management Plan, Control of Hazardous Energies, Electrical Safety, Powered Industrial Trucks, Fall Protection, Job Hazard Analysis, ergonomic risk assessments, and manual lifting safety.
  • Partner with all departments to thoroughly investigate, track, and resolve incidents, injuries, and near misses. Maintain a working knowledge of the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation Program and collaborate with HR on claims management.
  • Participate in operational meetings to provide safety insights, assist in planning for equipment repairs and replacements, and ensure EHS compliance in plant expansions and process modifications.
  • Monitor and guide employees during maintenance and equipment operation to ensure compliance with safety procedures and best practices.
  • Administer and deliver training programs on compliance initiatives, new policies and procedures, ergonomic improvements, and safe operation of new equipment.
  • Implement and enforce EHS policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Accurately record, log, and analyze safety and environmental data, preparing reports, trends, and charts as required.
  • Collaborate with contractors, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and third-party training providers to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Conduct or coordinate environmental sampling and industrial hygiene monitoring, including noise surveys, air quality assessments, and wastewater sampling.

Essential Skills

  • Associate’s degree
  • 2+ years of experience working as an EHS coordinator in a manufacturing environment (ideally food-related)
  • Possess at least one of the following certifications: OSHA 10 or 30 Hour, 40-Hour HAZWOPER, OSHA 511/501 Certification, Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST)
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office programs for documentation, reporting, and communication
  • Experience working independently

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with regulatory compliance audits
  • Understanding of incident investigations
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations

Work EnvironmentThis position will primarily be based on the manufacturing floor during the 2nd shift, with flexible start times between 2:30pm and 6:00pm and end times between 11:00pm and 3:00am.
