Job description: Patient Access Supervisor – Emergency DepartmentA reputable, multi-site healthcare organization is seeking a motivated and dynamic Patient Access Supervisor for the Emergency Department within one of their multiple hospitals throughout the greater Philadelphia area.The Patient Access Supervisor will oversee the daily registration functions within the ED. This role is crucial for ensuring an exceptional patient experience and promoting a positive working environment for staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to implement meaningful change in a fast-paced emergency department setting.Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage staff schedules, approve time off, and track clock in/out for bi-weekly payroll.
  • Monitor attendance and draft corrective action forms as needed.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Manage daily deposits and perform financial reconciliations every other day.
  • Coach, mentor, and support staff while addressing issues and challenges.
  • Collaborate with EMS, nurses, and doctors to enhance departmental operations.
  • Advocate for the Patient Access department, ensuring tasks are appropriately managed and not shifted to the team without proper delegation.
  • Conduct interviews and onboarding for new hires, ensuring they are well-trained and competent.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental protocols.
  • Foster a positive and professional demeanor while interacting with patients, families, and leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of patient registration experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a physician practice or hospital environment required.
  • Emergency Department experience is required.
  • Familiarity with EPIC or other EMR systems is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of patient registration, third-party insurance coverage, and healthcare protocols.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make decisions quickly.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in healthcare or business administration required; or, in lieu of degree, a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a physician office or hospital setting.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • HFMA Certifications preferred.
