Join Our Team as a Senior Application Developer Supervisor

If so, we invite you to consider joining our team as a Senior Application Developer Supervisor within DSHS’s (TIA) Technology Services Division.

At TSD, we are at the forefront of providing primary IT support to the Office of the Secretary and Financial Facilities Analytics. Our comprehensive services encompass everything from application development and administration to IT project management and data analysis. We play a crucial role in developing and maintaining vital administrative applications and processes utilized across DSHS and related organizations statewide.

This is a primarily telework opportunity, with rare travel as business needs require.

Some of what you will do

  • Supervise the day to day operational activities of IT professionals within assigned area of responsibility
  • Provide strategic direction in the development and maintenance of enterprise-wide applications critical to the missions of DSHS and TSD
  • Manage resources effectively, develop tactical plans, and oversee the progress of agile sprint iterations to ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions
  • Design, develop, and maintain program-specific contract reporting systems that feed a wide variety of data lookup tools
  • Design, develop, and maintain data views, Power BI PBIX files, reports, dashboards and other Power BI workspace content to support instance of Power BI reporting tools
  • Provide technical oversight and expertise during the planning and implementation of mission & business-critical application enhancements, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to examine requirements, resolve production issues, and recommend innovative technology solutions
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, fostering their professional growth and ensuring the optimal performance of supported applications

Who should apply

  • Bachelor’s degree*
  • Plus, 7 years of experience in application development or equivalent discipline, with hands-on experience in designing, coding, integrating, and deploying mid to large-scale systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and other relevant technologies such as MVC Entity Framework, .NET Framework, ASP.NET, and JavaScript
  • Experience in supervising or leading staff is preferred
  • Familiarity with ITIL, Agile, and DevOps methodologies is advantageous

*An Associates Degree in relevant fields with 8 years of experience may substitute for a BA degree. Additional experience may also be considered as a substitute for education.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Washington state laws and regulations about background checks, contracts, and procurement
  • Understanding of business principles within regulatory frameworks
  • Experience with technologies including Rest, SOAP, HTML5, CSS, XML/XSL, OOP, and IIS
