  • At least four (4) years of equivalent work experience in the field of application development OR at least (2) years of equivalent work experience in application development and (2) years of equivalent work experience in another information technology field (e.g. database administration, quality assurance, analysis, etc.) OR a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, management information systems, or a similar field

Preferences

  • Experience with C# .Net back-end development
  • Experience with or solid understanding of the CQRS architecture pattern
  • Experience with process documentation, process improvement, and/or modernization of legacy applications
  • Experience organizing and maintaining documentation on large complex systems

Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position serves as a developer within the Non-Election Application Development Section in the Bureau of Departmental Systems (BDIS) at the Florida Department of State (Department) and is responsible for developing & maintaining software systems and supporting business functions based on Department, Division, and Bureau requirements. All work is conducted at Department offices, unless approved by direct supervisorPrimary duties will be to:

  • Work within a team or alone to perform IT tasks in support of Department staff, constituents, and business functions.
  • Perform technical aspects of business processes such as running queries and batch jobs
  • Maintain, process, debug, patch, test, document and modify existing applications/systems.
  • Document issues, solutions, and process.
  • Serve as a liaison between users and IT staff and effectively communicate IT solutions and concepts to non-IT staff.
  • Adhere to BDIS standards (DevOps best practices unit testing, code reviews, plain language, etc.) for developing, testing, and documenting.
  • Asist in the modernization and documentation of existing legacy systems
  • Perform file and image management, cleanup, and analysis.
  • Evaluate new development tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Assist other IT teams as needed in testing, troubleshooting, and solutions
  • Other work-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesProficient with C#, .NET 4.0 and higher, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code. Knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server. Knowledge of development methodologies, ASP.NET, MVC, Nuget, and WPF. Ability to work well in a team environment.
