Job description: About the School:A Diverse Learning (Special Needs) Teacher is required within a diverse and dynamic Catholic Year 7-12 comprehensive co-ed school in South-Western Sydney.The school provides a holistic approach to education and is committed to academic excellence through empowering students to reach their potential and become lifelong learners through the development of independent and creative thinking.Their aim is to make a positive contribution to the transformation of society, led by the principle of leading lives built upon love, justice, mercy, compassion and service.The school is made up of many different backgrounds and over 70% of the student population are from language backgrounds other than English and they offer state of the art learning tools, technologies and recently upgraded facilities including open-plan learning spaces.Key responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively with students and staff as a proactive “team player”
- Demonstrable support and commitment to the mission, values and ethos of Catholic Education
- promote meaningful and age appropriate learning for all students
- Maintain safe and inclusive learning environments
- Work collaboratively to plan and implement school programs with a diversity perspective
- Assist the classroom teacher in identifying and prioritising vulnerable students
- Work collaboratively within the learning space to build the capacity of students to participate and succeed in regular classroom activities
- Provision of innovative and differentiated learning programs through the implementation of high-quality teaching practices
- Supporting student wellbeing by contributing positively and proactively to the life of the College.
- Be willing to contribute to the broader extra curriculum endeavours of school life as an active member of the College community
Requirements:
- Related experience in teaching students with learning differences and disabilities that affect their access to the curriculum in a mainstream environment is essential. These include: Dyslexia and other language disorders, ADHD, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Autism Spectrum Disorder and hearing and sight impairments.
- Current NESA accreditation to teach in NSW & current NSW Working with Children Check
- Have a passion for teaching the relevant subject area(s) and relevant teaching experience
- Have recognised Tertiary Educational Qualifications
- Be able to demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development
