Job description: Director of Environmental, Health & SafetyThe Director of Environmental, Health & Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading a comprehensive strategy for health, safety, environmental, fleet safety, and site security programs across all 41 Restaurant Technologies locations. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this role serves as the primary driver of EHS initiatives, fostering a safety-first culture and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement.This position will play a pivotal role in integrating safety and environmental priorities into organizational goals, leveraging data and technology to enhance safety outcomes, and promoting all safety initiatives. In addition, the role must be adept at identifying and analyzing risk, and creating appropriate mitigation plans.This role will need to manage safety strategy at 41-locations, as well as the culture that permeates into all environments where our workforce spends their time (depot, vehicles and at customer sites) across multiple states.Location & Travel:Preferred location: Minneapolis. Candidates based in Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, and similar “Airport Hub Cities” will also be considered. Frequent travel (up to 75%) is required.Compensation:The base salary range for this position is $160,000-180,000 annually plus a 25% annual bonus opportunity and participation in our long term incentive program. Base salary may vary based on geographic location, market conditions, and the candidate’s experience.Primary Job AccountabilitiesStrategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute a company-wide strategy for Safety, Health, and Environmental compliance, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Act as the subject matter expert on regulatory requirements (OSHA, Fleet Safety, EPA, etc.) and industry best practices.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for depot managers, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Program Development and Management:
- Design, implement, and oversee safety programs aimed at reducing workplace incidents and achieving measurable improvements in safety metrics.
- Establish and maintain company policies and procedures to address regulatory updates and organizational needs.
Incident Prevention and Management:
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and develop corrective measures to minimize recurrence.
- Work in collaboration with claims team to maintain OSHA accident/incident logs and ensure timely reporting of incidents.
- Oversee the environmental risk and work on prevention of oil spills
Driver Safety:
- Develop and implement comprehensive driver safety programs to reduce incidents and enhance fleet safety performance.
- Collaborate with fleet operations and depot leaders to establish driver training schedules, provide resources, and implement best practices for safe driving.
- Utilize data from telematics and incident reporting systems to identify trends, track performance, and develop targeted coaching and corrective action plans.
- Lead initiatives to improve driver engagement in safety programs and ensure consistent communication of safety expectations.
Training and Engagement:
- Define and coordinate safety training requirements for all facilities, scheduling sessions and providing necessary resources.
- Manages all applicable annual certifications and compulsory training
- Foster employee engagement through proactive communication, education, and leadership by example.
Compliance and Audits:
- Conduct annual safety and health regulatory compliance audits across all facilities.
- Oversee Emergency Response plans and schedule response drills in collaboration with facility managers and Operations Staff.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with internal stakeholders to review and improve business processes, enhancing efficiency and compliance.
Metrics and Reporting:
- Establish and monitor KPIs for safety performance, compliance, and incident reduction.
- Provide regular updates and actionable insights to executive leadership.
Sustainability and ESG Integration:
- Support environmental sustainability initiatives and align programs with ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience and progressive leadership within safety roles in safety program management, fleet safety, or industrial hygiene across multiple locations.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, safe work practices, and training requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in developing incident prevention and risk management programs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Frequent travel (up to 75%) to 41 depot locations and Corporate HQ in Minneapolis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in risk management or health and safety management (e.g., ASP, CSP, CIH).
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with sustainability initiatives and ESG reporting is highly desirable.
- Strong background in fleet safety, working with large fleets
