Strathfield Council (Council) is a medium sized Council located in Sydney’s Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.
About the Role
Strathfield Council has a fantastic opportunity for a Digital Communications Officer to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.
The Digital Communications Officer is responsible for managing Strathfield Council’s digital presence by developing compelling and professional content including video, and strategically disseminating it through various platforms in partnership with other Council departments.
To achieve this, this position will:
- Create strategic cross-channel content promoting Council programs and services, and fulfilling Council’s notification requirements, with a focus on engaging and professional videos (filming and editing)
- Manage content and presence on Council social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram) that is compelling and captivating through creation of videos, posts and other mediums.
- Spend significant amount of time outside of the office, onsite and ‘on the ground’ with Council teams to capture their work, both film and photography, and attend Council events and programs to capture content and post to social media in real time.
- Understand and monitor social media analytics and data, updating practices where required to deliver optimal digital communications.
- Support and ‘fill-in’ for other members of the Communications and Events team when required.
- Increase the amount and quality of Council’s digital asset library.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- 5 years’ experience in digital / social media content creation and /or communications and digital marketing.
- Current NSW Class ‘C’ Driver’s licence.
- Tertiary qualifications in Marketing and/or Communications or other relevant studies. (Desirable)
- Experience working in Local Government (Desirable)
