As a member of the Support organization, your focus is to deliver post-sales support and solutions to the Oracle customer base while serving as an advocate for customer needs. This involves resolving post-sales non-technical customer inquiries via phone and electronic means, as well as, technical inquiries regarding the use of and troubleshooting for our Electronic Support Services. A main point of contact for customers, you are responsible for facilitating customer relationships with Support and providing advice and assistance to internal Oracle employees on diverse customer situations and raised issues.
Responsibilities:
As an Advisory Systems Engineer, you are mentorship to be an expert member of the problem-solving/avoidance team and be highly skilled in solving extremely complex (often previously unknown), critical customer issues. Performing the assigned duties with a high level of autonomy and reporting to management on customer status and technical matters on a regular basis, you will be expected to work with very limited guidance from management. Further, the Advisory Systems Engineer is sought by customers and Oracle employees to provide expert technical advice.
- Responsible for deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud-based resources and services.
- Responsible for maintaining security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery procedures in a cloud environment.
- Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of computing systems.
- Implementation of projects, that have direct impact to the success of the business. Direct customer (internal and external to Oracle) management, including relationship building, and the sharing of technical expertise.
- Works independently without much guidance.
- Drives operational tasks & incident calls.
- Collaborates on planning, identifying and mitigating risks in the project.
- Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others.
- Should be able to author new SOPs & assist with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and provided detailed findings.
Operations specific skills:
- Production experience troubleshooting Linux (Oracle Linux, Red Hat Linux, etc.)
- Remote administration of servers in large scale Data Centers.
- Knowledge of Storage technologies
- Server Virtualization technologies
- General UNIX troubleshooting and administration
- Computer networking services and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP, etc).
- Scripting knowledge using shell, python, etc.
- Able to work with different internal teams for project work
- Knowledge of cloud compute technologies, network monitoring, OS image build
- Experience taking care of customer relationship
- General grasp of relational databases
- Experience with automation & configuration management systems such as Ansible, Terraform or Chef would be an added advantage.

- Excellent in verbal and written communication
- Fully competent in own area of expertise (Unix System Administration and Cloud Infra)
- Duties and tasks are varied and complex requiring independent judgment.

- Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills.

- A solid understanding of Cloud networking/distributed computing environment concepts
- Be a strong contributor to development of platform services including architecture, configuration, deployment, and support (Debugging and solving)
- Infrastructure automation through Terraform, Ansible, Python, source control tools (GIT/GitHub/GitLab), Serverless Functions
- Should be flexible and willing to work on call rotation providing weekend and afterhours support
- Candidate must be versatile, long-term strategic problem solver, a team-player, and enjoys working with new technologies in a fast-paced technology environment.

US: Hiring Range: from $37.98 to $76.06 per hour; from $79,000 to $158,200 per annum. May be eligible for equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
