The National Testing Agency (NTA) has ingeniously devised a framework that champions the triad of education – teaching, learning, and assessment. This innovative system not only empowers educators to impart knowledge, but also empowers students to absorb and grow, while parents and institutions play an active role in evaluating progress. Rooted in the ideals of quality, efficiency, effectiveness, fairness, and security, NTA is unwavering in its commitment to redefining assessment standards. By consistently collaborating with its integral stakeholders – encompassing students, parents, educators, experts, and partner institutions – NTA seamlessly translates its principles into action.
NTA’s goals encompass a range of important aspects:
- Executing assessments that are not only efficient and transparent, but also adhere to international standards. These evaluations gauge the capabilities of candidates seeking admission.
- Embarking on extensive research pertaining to educational, professional, and testing systems. This endeavor aims to uncover gaps within knowledge structures and implement strategies to bridge them effectively.
- Generating and dispersing valuable information and research that pertain to educational standards and the enhancement of professional development.
The National Testing Agency has been entrusted with a significant role – that of conducting the Common University Entrance Test (UG). This vital test serves as the gateway to admission into the Undergraduate programs offered by all Central Universities (CUs) for the upcoming academic session of 2023-2024.

Central Universities, also known as Union Universities in India, emerge through the enactment of parliamentary Acts and fall within the jurisdiction of the Department of Higher Education, overseen by the Ministry of Education. Within the Indian education landscape, universities gain recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC), operating under the University Grants Commission Act of 1956. Furthermore, 15 Professional Councils are instituted to manage diverse aspects of accreditation and coordination. Notably, Central universities are subject to the Central Universities Act of 2009, a legislative framework that governs their objectives, authority, governance, and more.
Shifting our focus to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG), this pioneering initiative is being introduced to facilitate admissions into undergraduate programs across all Central Universities. These institutions operate under the aegis of the Ministry of Education (MoE) and span various academic sessions. The CUET UG serves as an equalizing force, extending a unified platform to candidates nationwide, particularly those hailing from rural and remote regions. This endeavor also strengthens the bond between candidates and universities. With a singular examination, aspirants can broaden their horizons and actively engage in the admissions processes of diverse Central Universities.
