Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Work Hours/Days: Monday-Friday, Hybrid

Salary Range: $100,000 – $120,000 for 1.0 FTE, prorated if necessary, depending on the hired candidate’s availability.

Position Summary:

The Operating Philosophy adopted by the Governing Board of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc. (ACACS) emphasizes autonomy of each school’s Headmaster coupled with support and guidance from shared resources provided by an education service provider in order to leverage the economies of scale of a charter school network so that financial impacts to each school may be minimized.

This position serves as a Charter School finance expert, guide, and resource for coordination, redundancy, and support so that ACACS Finance (employed, contracted, and volunteer) and Headmasters can fulfill their responsibilities and functions effectively and efficiently.

Essential Functions

  • In coordination with Headmasters, ACACS Finance representatives, and the Authorizer, manage the development, monitoring, and revision of annual budgets at the organization, school, and department level.
  • In coordination with Headmasters, ACACS Finance representatives, and the Authorizer, manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements at the organization, school, and department level.
  • In coordination with Headmasters and ACACS Finance representatives, refine and, where necessary, further develop ACACS Financial Policies, Processes, and Procedures.
  • In coordination with the Chief Financial Officer, Headmasters, and ACACS Finance representatives, manage the monthly reconciliation of all necessary accounts.
  • In coordination with the Chief Financial Officer, Headmasters, and ACACS Finance representatives, manage the submission of all necessary federal, state, and local financial deliverables.
  • Coordinate with the Chief Financial Officer, Headmasters, and ACACS Finance representatives to support the implementation of new accounting systems.
  • Coordinate with Headmasters and ACACS Finance representatives to guide, support, and (where necessary) perform the resolution of financial process questions, uncertainties, and/or errors.
  • Coordinate with the Chief Financial Officer, Headmasters, and ACACS Finance representatives to record building corporation activity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer to support the efficient and effective functioning of our network and charter schools.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to living out the ACACS Mission, Vision, and Core Virtues, and abiding by the ACACS Governing Board Operating Philosophy
  • 7+ years’ experience with Charter School Finance GAAP, GASB standards, and budgeting in Colorado.
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to plan timelines and train/coordinate with various departments with self-motivated excellent time management.
  • Competency and experience in creating financial reports and dashboards from financial statements.
  • Ability to reconcile and analyze financial datasets.
  • Advanced Excel expertise
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others in a supervisory, in a peer, and in a reporting capacity.
  • Must have the ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis in a hybrid position.
  • Self-starter, leader in the field, and fosters an environment of collaboration.
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Google Suite, and Web browser application proficiency
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Ability to clear required background check.

Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc. (ACACS) is a network of public charter schools in Colorado comprised of four campuses. The governing Board of Directors at ACACS has contracted with Minga Education Group (MEG) to provide employment services for all staff at ACACS. Through this partnership, MEG provides employment services, a personnel system for human resources, benefits, payroll services, and access to a 401(k) plan. For naming purposes, Minga Education Group is the employer.
