The CN CDC provides an early leadership role within the career pathway for nursing within CQHHS and is responsible for the prisoner patient population at the Capricornia Correctional Centre. The CN CDC can function in more complex situations while providing support and direction to the Registered Nurse (RN), Enrolled Nurse (EN) and other non-registered nursing personnel. The CN CDC follows defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe, practice and services and workplaces.

About us:

Capricornia Offender Health Service (COHS) is responsible for the delivery of health service to Prisoners in the Capricornia Correctional Centre (CCC) and Capricornia Correctional Farm (CCF) including workcamps. COHS provides a health service to a fluctuating population of approximately 1050 male Prisoners within CCC and CCF. The CCC receives and transitions Prisoners on release from and to geographical locations north to Mackay; south to Gladstone, east to Capricorn Coast; and west to Central Highlands.

About the role:

The Clinical Nurse Communicable Disease Control (CN CDC) will work in partnership with the CQHHS Blood Borne Virus and Sexual Health Services, Public Health Unit, and the COHS multidisciplinary team to provide, assessment, screening, diagnosis, treatment, education, immunisation coordination, health promotion and harm minimisation to the prisoner community at the Capricornia Correctional Centre. The CN CDC will have an identified focus on the at-risk prisoner population whose behaviours or social disadvantages may put them at a greater risk of contracting a communicable/ notifiable disease.

About you:

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Mandatory qualification/s: Current registration as a Registered Nurse through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • A relevant postgraduate certificate or post graduate diploma will be highly regarded. Working towards or completion of the Immunisation Program Nurse course is highly advantageous.

Total remuneration value of up to $128,057 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary between $52.86 – $56.60 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
