They are committed to protecting and enhancing the region’s coastal environment and are seeking a highly experienced Civil Engineering Manager with a specialization in Coastal Engineering.Job Summary:The Civil Engineering Manager (Coastal Engineering Specialist) will be responsible for leading and managing coastal engineering projects, ensuring the development of sustainable and resilient coastal infrastructure. This individual will apply their specialized expertise in coastal processes, design, and construction to deliver high-quality projects that meet environmental and engineering standards. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of coastal engineering principles, extensive experience in the UAE, and excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic.Responsibilities:
- Coastal Engineering Design & Planning:
- Lead the design and planning of coastal protection structures, including breakwaters, seawalls, and revetments.
- Develop and manage coastal erosion and sedimentation studies.
- Conduct wave and hydrodynamic modelling for coastal projects.
- Design and implement dredging and reclamation projects.
- Develop coastal management plans and strategies.
- Project Management & Execution (Coastal Focus):
- Manage and oversee coastal engineering projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Conduct site investigations and monitor construction progress, specifically related to coastal works.
- Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations (EAD, etc.) and international coastal engineering standards.
- Coastal Modelling & Analysis:
- Utilize coastal modelling software (e.g., Delft3D, MIKE 21) for wave, hydrodynamic, and sediment transport analysis.
- Develop and calibrate coastal models.
- Analyze coastal processes and assess the impact of development projects.
- Provide technical expertise on coastal morphology and dynamics.
- Environmental Impact Assessment (Coastal Focus):
- Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for coastal projects.
- Develop mitigation measures to minimize environmental impacts.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
- Implement coastal monitoring programs.
- Technical Reporting & Documentation (Coastal Focus):
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations related to coastal engineering projects.
- Document project designs, calculations, and specifications.
- Maintain accurate project records and data, specifically related to coastal studies.
- Develop and maintain databases of coastal data.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams in both English and Arabic.
- Collaborate with other engineers, environmental scientists, and marine biologists.
- Provide technical training and support on coastal engineering topics.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Coastal Engineering or Ocean Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience as a Civil Engineer with a focus on Coastal Engineering.
- Extensive experience in the UAE coastal environment.
- Strong knowledge of coastal processes, design, and construction.
