Job description: Gann Academy seeks a high school Chemistry teacher for a full-time position in the 2025-2026 school year. Strong preference will be given to candidates who can flex between teaching chemistry and biology as needed. Successful candidates will have a passion for the chemical and life sciences, as well as a strong background in curriculum design and classroom teaching. The salary range is between $55,000-$90,000 annually, commensurate with relevant work experience and qualifications.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSTeaching Duties:
- Teach courses in chemistry, including at the advanced level, and biology courses as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and adapt curriculum and lessons that support student growth and to carry out science department initiatives.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues in person and via email.
- Use technology and other educational tools to support student learning.
Community Involvement
- Serve as a student advisor or the equivalent.
- Serve as a club advisor or the equivalent.
- Attend and participate in community programs during the school day; model and encourage appropriate behavior and monitor students during events and programming.
- Attend and participate in open houses, graduation, and other special events which may take place outside of school hours.
Collaborative Responsibilities
- Work with students outside of the classroom as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues across all departments.
- Attend and participate in department meetings; work as part of a team to address student and community issues as needed.
- Assist with substitute coverage when able; arrange and communicate class coverage as needed.
Professional Development, Growth, and Training
- Display a willingness and ability to grow and learn by pursuing professional development opportunities in or out of school.
- Build your knowledge and pedagogical skills by trying innovative tools and techniques
- Demonstrate a commitment to practicing self-reflection in service of professional growth
- Attend and participate in all faculty/staff work-day programs, in-service training (including August and June in-service days), orientation programs, seminars, and safety trainings.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Biology or Chemistry is required, a master’s degree is preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- A commitment to student-centered, mastery-based teaching
- Must be proficient in English to carry out work as assigned
- Specific skills required for the job
