As our Banquet Captain your focus is to provide guests with an excellent banquet experience. You do this by expertly planning and implementing the serving details for the event.

You will oversee and hold responsibility for:

Guiding, directing, and motivating banquet staff;

Directing your team in setting up tables correctly and uniformly in assigned area(s) using clean pressed linen, clean unspotted silverware, clean china with no chips or cracks, clean unspotted glassware;

Confirming the table complements (salt, pepper, sugar, breadbaskets, etc.) have been properly cleaned and filled;

Planning the serving order and orchestrating its completion in a timely, quiet and courteous manner;

Ensuring the servers are ready to serve the meal upon its preparation;

Managing set-ups, serves and/or break downs of coffee breaks, receptions, other special functions as assigned;

Maintaining professional and prompt communication with the guest contact person for guest needs;

When needed, performing the job of a Banquet Associate and Banquet Bartender;

Understanding and staying aware of departmental forecasting to ensure appropriate staffing levels;

Assisting the Banquet Manager with scheduling, training staff, and inventory;

Ensuring service standards are being followed and taking corrective action when they are not;

Following and modeling all company safety and security policies and procedures;

Reporting accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to management; and

Performing all other work as required to complete the primary purpose of the position.

Required Prior Experience:

Six months of banquet food service experience

Six months banquet or similar food/guest service leadership role

Preferred Prior Experience:

Prior banquet captain role

Required Licenses/ Certification:

Food Safety certificate or complete training during initial 90 days.

Alcohol certification or complete training during initial 90 days.

Physical:

Ability to lift, pull and push up to 50 pounds regularly.

Ability to bend and squat repeatedly.

Ability to walk and stand for duration of scheduled shift

Other:

Must be flexible to working days, early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
