The Assistant ICT Engineer will support the day-to-day operations of IT systems within the school. The role involves hardware and software management, network administration, end-user support, and collaboration with GEMS-IT to ensure the technology infrastructure is secure, efficient, and aligned with school needs.Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for educational and administrative staff across all school departments
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, PCs, printers, projectors, smart boards, and multimedia tools
- Monitor and troubleshoot hardware and network performance, including WiFi, firewalls, IP phones, and file servers
- Respond quickly to technical issues affecting classroom or admin operations, including educational software support
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and profiles across Microsoft systems and cloud platforms
- Collaborate with GEMS-IT for infrastructure upgrades, IT policy compliance, and procurement planning
- Maintain detailed inventory and licensing records for all hardware and software assets
- Ensure adherence to regular backup procedures, updates, patch management, and data security practices
- Prioritize support tickets based on urgency and work with vendors for complex resolutions
- Support IT-related school projects, installations, and AV setups for events
- Assist with system integrations and promote the effective use of technology in learning environments
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or IT-related field
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in ICT infrastructure support, preferably in an academic setting
- Strong knowledge of networking, servers, firewalls, Windows environments, and Microsoft 365 tools
- Familiarity with classroom technologies such as smart boards, projectors, AV systems, and robotics kits
- Excellent diagnostic, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively during peak usage periods
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
