If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to excellence in training future heroes, we want to hear from you!DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this role, you will plan, direct, and organize the work of a diverse team comprising of technical and clerical personnel across various programs, including registration, Academy on the Road, and curriculum development. Your position is responsible for establishing oversight methods and procedures to ensure compliance with state and national policies, as well as reviewing relevant legislation affecting the Office of the State Fire Commissioner and responder training in the Commonwealth. You will also conduct budgetary and fiscal analysis, provide quarterly reports, and arrange staff conferences while representing the academy on national advisory boards and committees.Additionally, the Assistant Fire Academy Administrator offers guidance on electronic data management and implements policies and standards for the training of Commonwealth responders. In the absence of the Administrative Officer 5/Administrator, this role assumes all responsibilities. Other duties as assigned by the Administrative Officer 5/Administrator and/or the State Fire Commissioner.

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • In the event of an emergency/disaster situation or training exercise, this position may be required to travel, work up to 12-hour shifts, and work outside of the normal work hours, including weekends and overnights.
  • Free on-site parking is available.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time upon successful completion of a training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Lewistown.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will receive the minimum starting salary of $75,678.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Administrative Officer 3 (Commonwealth title); or
  • Six years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
