About This Opportunity
Known locally as Principal Graphic and Digital Designer, you will support the Creative Director to develop and deliver graphic and multimedia design solutions that enable UQ’s marketing and communications activities.
A highly creative and motivated designer, you will develop creative concepts, pitch ideas to leaders and team members and create collateral, assets and multimedia solutions to provide new and compelling ways to raise brand awareness. You will contribute design expertise to the development of campaigns and other major initiatives, ensuring design approach appropriately responds to UQ strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Working with the Creative Director, contribute to the development and delivery of UQ’s graphic and multimedia design strategy and associated annual work plans.
Scope and deliver complex graphic and multimedia design initiatives, presenting high-quality outputs that effectively engage UQ’s target audiences.
Lead clients through the development and refinement of design briefs, ensuring that their intents and preferences are well-defined prior to the design process.
Contribute design expertise to the development and planning of campaigns and other major initiatives, ensuring design approach appropriately complements the wider approach and best enables UQs objectives.
Engage with Faculty and Institute teams where UQ is required to balance a common brand with an appropriately differentiated local positioning.
Mentor designers, using own professional expertise to ensure work is of a uniformly high quality and reflects contemporary creative trends and approaches.
Manage design-checks from a design-detailed perspective (BAU Projects).
Create and curate creative artwork that is appropriate for use across a range of print, web and digital applications, including (but not limited to) social assets, campaign collateral, digital apps, advertisements, promotional materials, brochures, prospectuses, signage and event collateral.
Develop creative concepts, pitch ideas to leaders and team members, and create compelling, relevant, and on-brand work backed by well-written creative rationales.
This is a full-time, continuing position.
At HEW level 7, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $96,649 – $105,244, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $113,080 – $123,136 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.
About You
Tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience in graphic design, multimedia design or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years’ experience working in creative agencies.
Advanced demonstrated knowledge of contemporary graphic and multimedia design practices, as demonstrated through recent work experience in a similar professional role and a track record of successful delivery.
Advanced demonstrated ability to produce digital assets for use within web sites, online advertising campaigns and interactive web applications with knowledge of up-to-date brand and digital design standards.
Proven experience developing brands from strategy through to creative execution with a thorough understanding of brand related principles.
Proven experience with ideation, development and roll out of TTL campaigns.
Demonstrated experience in the use of industry-standard design software including the Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Suites, together with the ability to rapidly acquire expertise in emerging applications.
Demonstrated experience in providing creative services at an enterprise level within the university sector or alternatively within another large, complex and/or regulated organisational environment.
