Job Description

Do you want to protect and enhance an exceptional tree population for the enjoyment of future generations?

As one of our Arborists you will be responsible for maintaining the health and vitality of Council’s urban forest with the development and delivery of Our City’s tree maintenance, pruning and planting programs. You will contribute expert arboricultural advice and participate in the planning and development of urban forest management, policies, and service objectives to meet community needs. You will also be responsible for supporting and monitoring contractor performance in tree service delivery for the City of Stonnington as well as providing excellent customer service, and aboricultural advice on Planning and Local Laws matters. You will Provide excellent and efficient customer service, fielding enquiries for information and aboricultural advice on a wide range of tree related matters with a customer centric, responsive approach as well as develop and build effective industry networks with peak bodies and outside organisations, fostering successful working partnerships which enhance service delivery.

This is a permanent full time position with a salary range of $92,922 – $100,635 per annum + 10.5 % superannuation and an accrued day off each month.

You are based within our bright, modern and sustainable Tooronga Depot office which is located next to Tooronga Train station and walking distance to Tooronga Village Shopping Centre. Desired Skills and Experience

To succeed in this position you will need:

  • Extensive knowledge in arboriculture and urban forest management.
  • Experience in providing expert horticulture and arboriculture advice to the community. Proven ability to gain cooperation and assistance from customers to efficiently solve emerging problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills along with strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge and previous application experience of relevant Acts, Regulations, Local Laws, Government and Council Policies.
  • Demonstrated capacity to undertake contract and contractor supervision and deliver successful outcomes.
  • Tech Savvy and proficient in the use of data management systems, computer software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Tertiary qualification in horticulture and/or arboriculture and demonstrated experience in urban forest management.
