Job description: DescriptionThe Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos currentlypursuing a new opportunity that has openings for an Application Engineer to work in Fayetteville, NC. This is an excitingopportunity to use your experience helping the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) EnterpriseDevelopment, Application, and Training (EDAT) mission. In this mission we are focused on providing innovative, data-driven solutions and enterprise architecture enhancements to enable seamless operations across USSOCOM’s globalnetwork. The program emphasizes rapid development and deployment of technologies to enhance the mobility andreadiness of Special Operations Forces (SOF) in both combat and non-combat scenarios. Key tasks include programmanagement, application development, training support, and technology integration to maintain USSOCOM’soperational edge. The EDAT program underscores agility and adaptability, ensuring SOF professionals have access tothe information and tools they need to meet evolving mission requirements.Role Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing applications in .NET Core (3.x, 5.x, 7.x, 8.x), ASP.NET, Angular (15+), and C#, supporting USSOCOM mission-critical systems.Modernize legacy applications, migrating to containerized solutions using Docker and cloud-based services (AWS, Azure) to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.Develop and implement SQL Server solutions, including writing advanced T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers, to optimize database performance and support enterprise-wide data management.Architect and integrate web-based solutions, leveraging Entity Framework/Entity Framework Core to streamline database operations and ensure secure data transactions.Enhance DevSecOps capabilities by integrating GitLab for CI/CD pipelines, automating builds, testing, and deployments to improve software development lifecycle efficiency.Apply Zero Trust security principles, ensuring compliance with DISA STIGs, NIST, and DoD cybersecurity standards, while securing applications against vulnerabilities.Optimize data-driven decision-making by supporting the design and implementation of data warehousing, advanced analytics, and enterprise data architecture solutions.Develop and maintain technical documentation, including development roadmaps, system architectures, user guides, and security compliance reports, to ensure project transparency and adherence to best practices.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including government stakeholders, system engineers, and data scientists, to align software solutions with USSOCOM’s operational requirements.Evaluate and implement new technologies, frameworks, and best practices to enhance USSOCOM’s digital modernization efforts, ensuring systems are adaptable and future-ready.Lead and mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and security-conscious development.Conduct application training and user adoption support, ensuring seamless integration of new software into operational environments.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field and 8+ years of prior relevant experience.A minimum of 6+ years of experience in application development, including designing, implementing, and maintaining modern software solutions.Skilled in digesting complex requirements and translating them into scalable, mission-critical applications that enhance operational capabilities for the warfighter.Proficient in application development using modern programming languages, including C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core (3.x, 5.x, 7.x, 8.x), JavaScript, Angular (15+), and C++.Hands-on experience with SQL Server (2008/2016) for database development, optimization, and advanced T-SQL query writing, including functions and triggers.Familiar with cloud platforms and containerization technologies, including Docker and GitLab.Must possess at least a Secret clearance.Familiarity with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) and Zero Trust security principles.Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.Strong background in enterprise application development, database management, and full-stack web development using modern frameworks.Experience developing and maintaining responsive, user-friendly, and visually appealing applications.Knowledge of AngularJS and modern Angular (15+) frameworks for front-end development.Expertise in T-SQL query optimization and database performance tuning in SQL Server.Experience integrating containerization solutions (Docker) into software development workflows.Familiarity with USSOCOM operational environments and mission requirements.Prior experience working on DoD or federal government projects, ensuring compliance with strict security and regulatory standards.Relevant technical certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Developer, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator.Security certifications, including CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CISM, preferred.Original Posting: March 17, 2025For U.S. Positions: While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.Pay Range: Pay Range $104,650.00 – $189,175.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
