Job description: Role SummaryAre you passionate about plant-based diets? Do you have experience in marketing, with a focus on events, activations and community building? ProVeg South Africa is looking for an Events and Activations Coordinator to organise events to highlight the benefits of a plant-based diet. You will be responsible for all logistical elements of our events and activations, managing our volunteers and helping to grow our online community.The types of events will vary, and could include plant-based sampling activations, corporate wellness days, film screenings, product launches, focus groups, volunteer training etc.Team management is very important as you will be responsible for managing our volunteer network and ensuring that volunteers enjoy being part of our events.Social media experience will be an integral part of this role and will be used to advertise events, highlight the events and activations we host, and inspire our online community.Job DetailsJob Title: Activations and Community CoordinatorHours per Week: 40Location: Pinelands, Cape TownReports to: Director, ProVeg South AfricaContract type: PermanentSalary: R20-28k total cost to companyResponsibilitiesEvent and activation coordination (70%):Project management, an on-site running of all events and activations.Coordinating and managing teams of event volunteersManagement of any event internsManagement of event budgetsAssisting the Corporate Engagement team with securing event sponsorshipsData collection at events where neededMaintenance of event checklists and guidelinesCoordinate the design, procurement, and adequate display of ProVeg South Africa branded collateralFacilitating the booking and training of volunteers for eventsTaking responsibility for event equipmentEvaluating effectiveness of events, activations and related activities and recommend improvements.Negotiating with vendors to achieve the most favourable termsMaintain a vendor database, including relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.When required, hiring and supervising freelance staff and vendors.Volunteer Management (10%):Growing and managing a team of volunteersTraining, coordinating and managing teams of event volunteersPlanning of volunteer team-building eventsSocial Media (20%):Managing Instagram and Facebook accountsCreating contentEngaging with our communityFacebook and Instagram advertisingCoordinating social media competitionsLiaising with ProVeg International to ensure alignmentManaging a social media content scheduleCompiling a monthly social media reviewAssisting the PR Manager with the monthly Mailchimp newsletterAssisting the Corporate Engagement team in securing marketing partnershipsOther ad hoc tasks as required.QualificationsRequired (please do not apply if you do not have all of the requirements).:Alignment with ProVeg International’s vision and mission. Familiarity with the vision is essential and alignment must be demonstrated in the applicationRelevant degree and a minimum of 3 years proven experience in event or activations management, OR
A minimum of 6 years proven experience in event or activations managementExperience managing teams and working with volunteersHave experience in managing budgetsExperience with content creation and management of social media profilesAssertive personality, and experience in ensuring adherence to organisational policies and proceduresExcellent presentation skills and project management capabilityExcellent written and verbal English skillsOutgoing and confident, able to network effectively and represent the organisation with professionalismAbility to provide constructive feedback in a timely manner to oneself and team members that contributes to individual and organisational growth.
