Job description: The Lakeside Educational Enrichment Program (LEEP) is looking for an individual to work as a Digital Life Teacher for the 2025 summer. This is a full-time position from late June through early August with possible work dates (compensated) during the school year.Visit (https://www.lakesideschool.org/summer/leep) to learn more about the goals and structure of this powerful summer program.Responsibilities
The LEEP Digital Life Teacher will join a diverse and highly collaborative community of educators that consists of teaching colleagues, student counselors, coaches, and outdoor field instructors. The LEEP Team values risk taking and educational excellence. Specific responsibilities for this position include:

  • Teach Digital Life classes to rising sixth and rising ninth graders (approximately 20 students per class). The goal of technology education is that all students have the computer and multimedia skills needed to support their academic work and to provide a strong foundation for future technology use (i.e., digital literacy, digital citizenship, multi-media production, design thinking, computational thinking).
  • Teach a diverse student body who come to the program with different and evolving lived experiences and levels of preparation in previous academic setting.
  • Build a culture of inclusivity, create an environment of trust, and provide an academically and emotionally supportive learning space.
  • Exercise collaborative leadership and support of the LEEP program including supervision of students, team with teachers, and maintain responsibility for primary instruction spaces.
  • Nurture the love of reading and habits of mind of life-long learners.
  • Lead and collaborate with staff and students in research, guided inquiry, and project-based learning.
  • Develop digital citizens who understand the responsible use of information.
  • Provide an academically and emotionally supportive environment for participants that promote the LEEP Values; Respect, Risk Taking, and Active Participation.
  • Participate in program meetings and student evaluations.
  • Support instructional and non-profit partners during enrichment activities and field experiences if needed.
  • Highlight student accomplishments during culminating ceremony and in student reports at the end of the summer.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Have experience in field of Library and/or Computer Science, preferably with Middle School students and work with a diverse student and/or community population and demonstrate an equity and inclusion mindset.
  • Have experience with Maker spaces and hands-on technology, and have experience with a variety of programming languages.
  • Thrive in a highly collaborative work environment that values innovation and creativity.
  • Be able to work collaboratively to create interesting and fun content for students in sixth thru ninth grade.
  • Possess the ability to connect with a broad range of learners.
  • Have passion and commitment for student success in and outside of the classroom.
  • Complete a state and national criminal history background check.

Workday / Schedule
The following outlines the required hours of work and events for Teachers:

  • Spring Curriculum Review: May 17 and June 7
  • Staff Orientation Days: June 26– July 2: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. each day.
  • Summer Program: July 7 – August 1: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. each day (student hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00
  • m.).
  • Closing Events: August 1: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (final schedule will depend on culminating projects)
  • Comments due: August 5

Compensation
First-time teachers will be paid $5400 in two installments, for the five weeks of their LEEP employment. Compensation credit will be given for returning teachers. A daily lunch is provided during in-person format.Application Process

Expected salary: $5400 per month
