As the first teacherpreneur at LSC reporting to the Instructional Coach, you will be at the center of this work— coaching our lead teachers & instructional assistants and driving decisions that will benefit our scholars. Reporting to the Academy Director, you will be the driver of high-quality coaching instruction that enables teachers to develop and deliver strong content and to instill a lifelong love of learning in our scholars. You will work with lead teachers & instructional assistants to be your scholars’ champion who believes all scholars are capable of greatness and achievement far beyond what society has been conditioned to accept. You will come to demand excellence for yourself, your teachers, and your students, and accept nothing less than students’ best and most thoughtful work.

Responsibilities as the Primary Academy Instructional Coach will include the following but are not limited to:
Your typical week would include the following two work buckets:
- Own Tier 2/3 Reading/Math intervention services (50% of your Week) with the expectation that 50% of scholars served will meet their growth targets each testing window and that 80% will meet their weekly mastery checks.
- Own the full Implementation of LSC’s New Reading Curriculum (50% of your Week) to Include Coaching Teachers to Ensure 100% Fidelity
As a teacherprenuer (hybrid teacher leader) this teacher leader should be hungry about the spirit of collective leadership in demonstrating it in their daily actions by spending 50% of their work time providing direct instruction to scholars and the other 50% of their work out of the classroom directly coaching teachers to ensure 100% fidelity of LSC’s new reading curriculum. Other leadership duties will include:
- Analyze school-wide data in order to design responsive student interventions.
- Devise and monitor high-impact support plans for struggling students.
- Track other useful academic data (e.g. homework completion rates); communicate progress to scholars, teachers, and parents.
- Model how to build strong, mutually respectful relationships with scholars and families and support teachers to do the same.
- Assist in the fidelity of school culture systems including behavior management & attendance through MTSS.
- Assist in the school’s implementation of its tutoring program.
- Assist in the planning & implementation of literacy nights & reading challenge opportunities.
- All other duties assigned.
Demonstrate Exceptional Teacher Leadership
- Strong knowledge of the science of reading philosophy.
- Develop a coaching cycle, in consultation with the instructional coach, for all lead teachers.
- Observe lessons regularly and deliver targeted feedback to teachers on reading instruction.
- Collaborate with grade/subject teams to plan units, lessons and assessments; regularly share feedback.
- Model outstanding instruction for lead teachers & teaching fellows.
Facilitate High Quality & Personalized Professional Learning Opportunities
- Coordinate and manage creative, inspiring professional development sessions in line with school goals and priorities.
- Model the Liberty STEAM Charter core beliefs and values at all times; be a visible and highly engaged leader in the school community.

Educational Background and Work Experience
- Five years of teaching experience preferred with a proven record of high scholar achievement.
- Bachelor’s degree with a GPA of at least 3.0 from a competitive college or university; Master’s degree preferred.
- South Carolina certification in early childhood OR elementary OR in the process of obtaining a certification. Valid out-of-state certification is also acceptable.

Compensation
Teacherpreneurs are paid in accordance with the board-approved lead teacher (certified) salary schedule. The starting salary for all lead instructional staff at LSC is $51K, with the potential for instructional staff members to earn up to a total compensation package of $61K with performance pay, perfect attendance, and additional work stipends. The salary for this position is very competitive and commensurate with experience.
