The Manager, Trends and Color Marketing leads Dunn-Edwards trend spotting & research, color marketing & innovation, and color creative strategy for the organization across multiple brands and channels, while serving as an industry thought-leader for trend and color.

This position is based in the greater Los Angeles Market. The position provides support for strategy and development of trend, color, & creative platforms. This individual must maintain the highest level of performance and professionalism with an ongoing emphasis on project and thought leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leverage knowledge and experience to understand the architectural coatings landscape, customer insights, and unmet customer needs to inform innovation and marketing campaigns in the trend, color, and creative spaces.
  • Drive color marketing and trend innovation throughout the organization. Identify and prioritize new concepts, tools, and approaches from discovery phase to commercialization.
  • Provide project management of trend, color, and creative and other marketing initiatives toward delivery of high-impact campaigns.
  • Analyze research, data, and insights and translate into winning creative and color strategies that lead the industry.
  • Design and execute new color and trend programs, leveraging deep user understanding with the goal of improving user experience while delivering against strategic priorities and growth objectives.
  • Act as a convener, bringing together colleagues from across functions to create and deliver consensus-driven solutions
  • Build strong strategic and operational relationships with key internal and channel partners

Skills and Knowledge

  • The position requires strong knowledge of home, fashion, and other trends as well as color science to bring trends, creative, and color marketing to market.
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated excellence in the planning and execution of strategies for trend, color, and creative including inventory management and planning.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally, bringing together the best of the business to drive results in a heavily matrixed, fast-paced environment.
  • Confident and effective communicator with strong interpersonal and team-management skills, driven to achieve goals and exceed expectations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no direct reports to begin with and will have opportunity to build structure as the organization expands.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field required.
  • 8+ years of confirmed experience working in the home/building materials industry in a trend, creative, and color capacity.
  • Experience in the architectural coatings industry strongly preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Not applicable.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Strong project management, organizational, time management and oral and written communication skills a must. Strong presentation skills preferred. Must be able to travel (drive and fly) 10% of the time among Dunn-Edwards locations throughout CA, NV, AZ, NM, and TX, including occasional overnight travel. High level of proficiency with MS Office applications with special emphasis on PowerPoint.
