Job description: About the role
In this role, you will work alongside senior management and operational Council staff to provide support and assistance to Councillors under the direction of the Team Leader Mayor and Councillor Support.

Work type: Temporary, full-time (12-month contract)
Classification: Band 6 ($90,264 – $97,365)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Triaging Councillor and Customer requests for information and investigation.
  • Researching and processing Councillor requests where information can be sourced from existing knowledge banks and systems.
  • Monitoring the performance of Councillor Requests in the Councillor Portal, and work with internal colleagues to ensure relevant KPI’s are being met.
  • Allocating coordinated assistance and escalate complex matter requests to the Councillor Liaison Officers (CLO’s) and business via Customer Service delivery model.
  • Maintaining effective engagement and communication with CLOs, Councillors, employees at all levels, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Providing administrative support, including the coordination of meeting requests for councillors.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have experience working in a politically sensitive and/or confidential environment.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in providing quality assurance for a range of formal communications including correspondence, submissions, and reports.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and previous experience in Local Government would be an advantage.
  • Detailed knowledge of, or an ability to quickly develop detailed knowledge of, the City’s structures, administrative mechanisms, governance protocols, and business procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to positively liaise and negotiate with a range of stakeholders to the highest level.
  • The ability to operate effectively, efficiently, and flexibly with experience in managing competing priorities and multiple workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver successful outcomes in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Experience in data monitoring and reporting on performance.
