Our Financial Services team is looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to fill the permanent full-time position of Finance Officer – Accounts Payable/Receivable. As a member of the City’s Financial Services team the position provides day-to-day financial support for weekly and monthly accounts payable and receivable processing and associated tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
You will:
- Provide effective recording, processing and control of the City’s accounts payable and receivables transactions in accordance with the systems, processes and practices required to manage such transactions.
- Advising and liaising with City staff, private enterprise, government departments and members of the public in relation to account payments for the City.
- Managing the Purchasing Card transactions and reconciliation.
- Ensuring that accounts and records are prepared and maintained in accordance with relevant legislation and standards.
- Assisting with the City’s tax obligations for Goods & Services Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax
- Advising and assisting City staff in relation to raising Purchase Orders and correct budgets and accounting codes.
- Review of Monthly statements and outstanding Goods Receipts.
- Consulting and assisting the Senior Accountants as necessary
To be successful you will have:
- A Certificate IV or above in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum two years’ previous finance experience in a medium/large organisation.
- Understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables.
- Advanced computer literacy.
- Ability to interpret financial data and understand Accounting principles.
- Proven analytical skills coupled with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise and manage a high-volume workload.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Demonstrated organisation and time management skills.
- Although local government experience may be useful it is not a pre-requisite for the position.
- A current National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
- As part of our recruitment process, you will be required to complete drug and alcohol testing.
This full-time position attracts a Level 4 remuneration of $75,419 – $81,093 per annum dependent on qualifications and experience. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce.
