What you’ll be doing
The Clinical Psychologist provides community based acute mental health services for mental health consumers and their families who require an assertive community mental health response. They provide independent assessment using empirically validated methods, diagnostic formulation, multi systemic and to improve outcomes of consumers and their families/carers presenting with complex or high level acuity of mental illness.

Selection Criteria * Registered Psychologist with AHPRA/Psychology Board of Australia with practice endorsement in Clinical Psychology.

  • Board-approved supervisor with Psychology Board of Australia eligible to supervise provisionally or generally registered psychologists undertaking: • A 4+2 or 5+1 internship program • Board-approved, accredited higher degree programs • Clinical psychology placements during a board approved higher degree program. • A registrar program leading to endorsement in an area of practice endorsement or • Professional higher degree placements.
  • Extensive post graduate experience in the provision of contemporary Mental Health practice including conducting mental health assessments, and the provision of evidence based interventions for high level of acuity mental illness.
  • Demonstrated and extensive experience of working with families and ability to work therapeutically with families to improve mental health outcomes for children and young people.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the NSW Mental Health Act (2007).
  • Understanding of the concept and principles of mental health rehabilitation and recovery and demonstrated experience and skills using a collaborative, strengths based approach to the care of mental health consumers.
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with consumers, their families and carers and other stakeholders, and a demonstrated high level proficiency in computer literacy.
  • Current unrestricted drivers’ licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive . All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
