About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a multi-disciplinary team of scholars focused on understanding the impact of visual images on prosocial behaviour. The Research Fellow would be dedicated to advancing two funded research projects on visual images. One project investigates the impact of images in fundraising and nonprofit marketing. This project develops new evidence-based visual strategies through significant interdisciplinary collaborations with leading industry partners in Australia and abroad. Expected outcomes include best practice guidelines that better equip humanitarian organisations to help people in need. The second project is designed to understand the psychological factors underpinning climate (in)action, and test visual tools capable of catalysing action. The significant benefits that will emerge will assist in future-proofing the economy, increasing government flexibility to drive change, and reducing social conflict.

Key responsibilities will include:

Research

Publish or exhibit in high quality research outlets.

Participate in applications for competitive research funding to support projects and activities.

Work with colleagues in the development of joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support.

Develop and steward relationships with key external stakeholders, including federal and state government departments and agencies, organisations, external funding entities, and related industry bodies.

Supervision and Researcher Development

Contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).

Demonstrate personal effectiveness in supervision and the management of researcher development.

Citizenship and Service

Demonstrate citizenship behaviours that align to the UQ values.

Collaborate in service activities external to the immediate organisation unit.

Develop external links and partnerships by cultivating relationships with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community.

This is a full-time (100%) fixed-term position for up to 2 years at Academic level A. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,324.85 – $102,945.12, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $90,470.08 – $120,445.79 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

The greater of joining the UQ community are broad: from being part of a university, to recognition of prior service with other Australian universities, up to 26 weeks of paid parental leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, flexible working arrangements including hybrid on site/WFH options and flexible start/finish times, and genuine career progression opportunities via the academic promotions process.

About You

Completion or near completion of a PhD in marketing, psychology, philanthropic studies, or a related discipline area.

Evidence of experience conducting experiments, either online, in the lab, or in the field.

Experience conducting meta-analyses and/or systematic reviews

A demonstrated interest in understanding a domain of prosocial and/or pro-environmental behaviour

Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
