Duties

Develops a comprehensive Single Marine and Sailor Program, for the Tri Command, which provides opportunities to develop and enhance Marines and Sailors recreational, health and wellness to include life skills, career development, community involvement, and quality of life issues. Schedules, organizes, publicizes, directs and evaluates both recurring and non-recurring activities. Coordinates and conducts special events and joint community programs that directly affect the morale of the patrons aboard the installations. Responsible for the operation of two single marine limited club operation facilities. Responsible for the economic and efficient operation of the food and beverage services at MCAS Beaufort Smoothie Bar.

Coordinates recreation information, opportunities and needs for the target population of 18-25-year-old single active-duty personnel. Provides input and feedback between the unit sites and elements of the MCCS Department. Maintains high level of visibility with the patrons through innovative methods of outreach. Plans, markets, and conduct ongoing programs during off duty hours. Educates and acquaints personnel with program opportunities such as field trips, sports tournaments, etc. Forms, coordinates and maintains a network or teams of personnel to develop a path of communication and provide programming ideas and assistance. Oversees a council of active-duty personnel to plan various activities.

Coordinated feedback to commands on issues that affect the singe Marines Quality of Life. Maintains contact with responsible representatives of the command, special interest groups, local community officials, civic organizations and other public officials. Represents MCCS Director on matters and projects concerning the Single Marine Program and singe Marine issues. Prepares and conducts briefings and orientations, concerning the various aspects of the Single Marine Program for commands, visitors, newly arrived single and unaccompanied marines, base organizations, and local community businesses.

Plan, organizes work, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies. Prepares internal office financial plans and related records and reports, and exercises authority on approved budget. Monitors programs on a regular basis and initiates corrective action to ensure support of operating programs of MCCS. Manages new property resources and may provide direction on facility renovations and improvements. Develops long range plans in conjunction with internal operating directives and exercises internal personnel management authorities as delegated by the higher-level supervisor with regard to subordinate supervisors and employees in the office. Directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors supervises employees. Counsels and trains employees, schedules and directs work, appraises work performance. Approves or disapproves leave, and personnel actions. Must be alert to substance abuse and take appropriate action. Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment policies, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues and programs. Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.

Maintains personal identification information IAW with prescribed regulations and ensures confidentiality and security of information. Handles sensitive information that is proprietary, privileged, confidential, or otherwise legally exempt from disclosure. Safeguards sensitive information and prevents unauthorized reading, printing, retaining, copying or dissemination of information, messages, or correspondence in accordance with rules and regulations such as those covered by the Privacy Act, 5 USC 552(a), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Public Law 104-191, and DoD Directive 6025.18. Notifies the higher-level supervisor and senders immediately when personal identification information has been released and advises on how to properly recover, and/or protect information.

Collateral Duties

Proactively promotes MCCS food/hospitality and golf course services to authorized clients.

Prospects for new business, in both in person and via the internet and telephone. Engages in business activities that generate potential clients and promotes Traditions and Legends usage. Attends business networking events in the community. In consultation with marketing and business owners strategically places promotion material in select locations.

Qualifications

Bachelor¿s Degree in Recreation or a related field appropriate to the work of position and three years of experience in the occupation, or a related field or work area, or an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, or appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Knowledge of the entire scope of activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests. Knowledge of Marine Corps Community Services and its mission. Ability to coordinate a large volunteer program with command, community, and civic leaders. Ability to solve problems that arise from managing large, diverse groups of people. Ability to market the program and motivate eligible patrons. Must possess managerial and administrative skills necessary to accomplish the mission of the program. Skill to supervise employees in accomplishment of work. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Knowledge of NAF policies and procedures preferred. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.
