Job description: You’ll love your new role as our Nurse Unit Manager.

Work alongside a professional and supportive leadership team to oversee the day-to-day operations of a spacious residential facility in the Illawarra region, specifically designed to accommodate up to 15 residents, all of whom have disabilities. You will ensure that the provision of complex care is delivered to an exceptional standard, maintaining the rights, dignity, and preferences of our residents.

Your excellence in leadership and clinical expertise sees you confidently manage a team of Registered Nurses. Best practice in nursing care is embedded in your team’s daily thinking and practice – exceeding quality and clinical standards and promoting optimum health outcomes for the people we are so privileged to support.

This opportunity is perfect for those seeking the freedom and flexibility of part-time work, ideally joining us three days a week. The full time annual salary package for the role starts at $103,000 (including superannuation) and will be negotiated based on skills, qualifications and experience.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a team of Registered Nurses and support their ongoing professional development.
  • Develop and implement nursing practices that are current, best practice and evidence based.
  • Support the assessment, provision of services, and evaluation of health support plans.
  • Ensure proper administration and management of medications for residents.
  • Liaise with residents and their support networks to ensure supports are delivered in accordance with individual medical, physical, and emotional needs.
  • Create multidisciplinary partnerships to achieve optimum health and wellbeing outcomes for residents.
  • Provide training and mentorship to frontline teams within your knowledge, qualifications and expertise.
  • Embed a safety culture where the health and wellbeing of residents, employees and visitors is at the heart of all you do.

What you’ll need to succeed in the role:

  • A bachelor’s degree in nursing and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
  • Substantial experience as a Registered Nurse in a disability, aged care, or hospital setting.
  • Experience in leading, mentoring and developing high performing teams.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills with the ability to work closely with participants, their support networks, and health professionals.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills to address clinical issues and feedback or concerns.
  • Experience in undertaking audit and reporting on compliance related activity, including capture of professional documentation relating to participant care.
