This position involves leading innovative research projects in structural engineering with emphasis on steel, ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), and additive manufacturing. The selected candidate will have access to cutting-edge facilities including industrial-scale 3D concrete and metal printers, and will be expected to engage in experimental and computational work, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to grant writing efforts.Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct research in structural materials development and additive manufacturing
- Develop and simulate finite element models for UHPC and 3D-printed components
- Operate and test structural prototypes using 3D printing technology
- Publish high-quality research outcomes in scientific journals and conferences
- Mentor undergraduate researchers and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
- Participate in research proposal development and lab innovation strategy
- Engage in multiscale laboratory testing and data interpretation
Job Requirements
- PhD in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Material, or related Engineering disciplines
- Strong publication record in structural engineering and computational modeling
- Proficiency in finite element simulation and mechanics of materials
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in research environments
- Experience in experimental testing of materials and components
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in additive manufacturing or 3D printing technology
- Programming experience (Python, C++), GUI development skills
- Knowledge of machine learning or artificial intelligence integration in engineering
- Familiarity with structural component-level testing and modeling
- Multidisciplinary research exposure across engineering domains
