The Assistant Director provides strategic oversight of all housing operations and technology systems supporting NYUAD’s residential colleges. This includes managing a full housing lifecycle-from room assignments and break housing to billing and technology implementation-while directly supervising the Residential College Operations Manager. The role requires collaboration across departments, a data-informed approach, and an unwavering focus on student well-being and equity in housing access.Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily and long-term housing operations for over 1,800 student beds
- Supervise housing staff, conduct training, and guide professional development
- Direct all student housing transitions: move-ins, mid-semester changes, and breaks
- Manage StarRez and other platforms (e.g., Monday.com, Hiver) to optimize housing logistics
- Oversee occupancy tracking, housing charges, roommate matching, and contract compliance
- Liaise with Facilities, Safety, Student Finance, and NYU-NY to ensure seamless service
- Monitor and update website content and student-facing communications
- Coordinate furniture inventory, damage billing, and residential storage operations
- Prepare and manage housing budgets, forecasting, and procurement processes
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to respond to housing emergencies and student crises
- Support wellness, equity, and access across the residential housing platform
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in higher education or student affairs preferred
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in residential life, housing operations, or student affairs
- Demonstrated success with data systems such as StarRez and workflow management tools
- Strong administrative, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Sound judgment in confidential, high-pressure, and crisis situations
- Experience leading professional staff and building cross-functional teams
- Ability to support a diverse student body with international and cultural sensitivity
- Strategic and results-oriented mindset with a commitment to innovation and student success
