As a Research Assistant in the Cornille Laboratory, you will conduct plant molecular biology and population genomics research, focusing on identifying genes and epigenomic features involved in adaptation and environmental stress responses. The role provides the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Amandine Cornille and potentially lead independent projects aligned with the lab’s themes in evolutionary genomics and molecular interactions with microbiomes.Key Responsibilities
- Conduct DNA/RNA extractions and sequencing, applying safety protocols
- Analyze gene expression and epigenomic datasets in plant populations
- Identify adaptive genomic and epigenomic markers linked to environmental stress
- Assist in microbiome studies associated with plant response mechanisms
- Perform basic statistical analyses; bioinformatics experience is a plus
- Contribute to manuscript preparation and data visualization
- Develop and pursue an independent research question in line with lab goals
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary research teams at NYUAD
Job Requirements
- Bachelor\’s or Master’s degree in Biology or Molecular Biology
- Strong experience in laboratory molecular techniques (DNA/RNA extraction, sequencing)
- Basic knowledge of statistical data analysis
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Scientific creativity and a willingness to explore new research ideas
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in bioinformatics or evolutionary genomics
- Prior involvement in microbiome-related research
