Job description: The National Indigenous Training Academy (NITA), based at Ayers Rock Resort, is searching for a Wellbeing Support Worker to live and work onsite at Yulara, NT which is 20 min drive from Uluru, one of Australia’s most iconic and culturally significant landmarks.

About NITA.

The NITA Residential Program at Ayers Rock Resort supports up to 80 trainees in dormitory-style accommodation whilst they complete their training. As a Wellbeing Support Worker you will ensure that every trainee in the Academy feels a sense of connection, safety and pride, but most importantly feels at home during their residence and trainee journey.

Our team of Wellbeing Support Workers seek to establish strong relationships with every trainee, providing a supportive and encouraging environment that begins with recruitment and orientation into the program, through to the celebration of their achievements and success at Graduation.

NITA wellbeing support workers are the heart of our team with their primary purpose to be attentive to wellbeing needs of trainees and further to role model pride and responsibility in the upkeep of residential facilities and amenities. We are looking for an enthusiastic team member dedicated to promoting the values of education and a strong work ethic whilst also seeking daily opportunities to strengthen spiritual, personal, social and emotional wellbeing of trainees.

About the role
The NITA Wellbeing Support Worker supports the social, emotional, spiritual and cultural wellbeing of Indigenous trainees working and living at Ayers Rock Resort, with the goal of developing skills to thrive in life, maintaining employment and completing their traineeship.

The key duties of the role include:

  • Relational & practical support: coordinate practical support (for example, transport to medical appointments) to assist trainees in meeting their needs.
  • Facility management: undertake ‘daily tasks’ to enhance and maintain the presentation and operation of the residential facility.
  • Activities delivery: design, plan and deliver culturally safe activities to enhance the social, emotional, spiritual and cultural wellbeing of trainees.
  • Mentoring: provide mentoring to support trainees to successfully complete their traineeship and achieve their personal and professional goals.

About you
You are passionate about supporting young adults achieve their goals. You understand the unique and diverse strengths and challenges facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, with a willingness and capacity to listen and learn.

A minimum Cert IV Community Services or Cert IV Youth Work qualification is required for this role. Due to working with young adults and working with vulnerable people check will need to be obtained before starting with us
